ANSEL A – Powerful Photo Editor For Your N900
Check out Ansel-A, a powerful N900 photo editor. If you get grainy shots, or just want to change the look and feel of your favorite photos, then Ansel-A is what you’ve been lookin’ for. Best of all it’s free, as long as you have the right repositories enabled!
First off, you need to enable the Extras-Devel/Extras-Testing repository. If you don’t know how to do it, check it out here. Remember, the Extras repositories are for the brave only. Install apps only if you feel confident enough to test out software that might have bugs still. Once you enable the right repositories, do a search for Ansel-A, and install it.
After you’re done installing it, start the app, and you will be brought to a file manager. You can load pictures from both the N900′s internal memory or memory card. Just make sure your pics are saved in the “DCIM” folders. After selecting the picture you want to edit, select edit @ the bottom left hand corner and the editing tabs will show up.
The first tab lets you edit the photo to make a greycscale version of your image. The colors represent the hues that will be used for the color conversion. Remember to press apply to see the change. Don’t worry, it doesn’t overwrite the original, but I’ll show you what I mean later on.
The next tab is where you can play with the Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness, and Brightness settings. The majority of users will probably use this tab, because it’s easy! Remember to press apply to see the change
The next tab let’s you adjust the Red/Cyan, Green/Magenta, and Blue/Yellow curves. Remember to press apply to see the change
With the MSH tab, you can edit the Shadows, Mid-Tones, and Highlight settings. Remember to press apply to see the change
You can even see the red, blue, yellow histograms of your photos. If you’re into that sort of thing.
In addition to rotating the photos, you can crop the image in various ways.
After you’re done editing, Ansel-A saves the photos you have edited in various steps. As long as you press apply, you make new steps in editing your photo. You can see those photos by hitting the semi circle icon in the top left hand corner. All you have to do is select the photo, and save it!
